Prague day two
After bending my glasses last night the first job off the rank was to find an optometrist...we were sent in various directions but finally found the optician who fixed them (with a warning 'at my own risk'). She did it free of charge and they are now better than they were before.
Once that was done we boarded the hop on hop off tour bus and began hearing all about Prague, the different buildings, squares and its political history. There was so much to learn and take in, I found it so interesting.
We jumped off at the Prague castle and wondered through St Vita's cathedral, the basilica, some of the rooms of the castle and the golden lane (pictured). We then raced out to the front of the castle and made it just in time to see the changing of the guards.
We jumped back on the bus and hopped off at the river cruise that was included in our ticket. It was lovely to see Prague from the river but we did get sunburnt :(
We eventually split up, mum and dad heading off to walk across Charles bridge and we headed back to the old town square to wonder around before taking the tube to the television tower....apparently the second ugliest building in the world (as advertised).
Funny thing happened on the tube though. Andrew and I were sitting talking as we came into one of the stations. Everyone, and I mean everyone got off except us. It took a few moments before I twigged that something was strange. The train hadn't left and everyone who was on the train was now on the platform staring at us on the train. A lovely lady gestured for us to get off which we did...just as the train driver was jumping our, most likely to tell us to move. It was pretty funny and we felt pretty silly.
Well, Andrew is snoring beside me, a sure sign of how tired he is, so I should turn in also. It is just now getting dark 9:30pm. We leave Prague tomorrow and head for Budapest stopping at some towns along the way. I'm not sure when my next Internet access will be but I will continue to write entries....
Love and hugs
