I now have regular work on a farm!! Me and Kelly were asked to do some cleaning a few weeks ago in an old farm house for a couple called Neil and Jenny, so we said yes and through that we got asked to work on their farm. Its a Basil farm and we started off planting the Basil then we started picking it! We have a little trolley and you have to push it down the row and we started just cutting the centres out of the plant, weighing them, they have to be between 120-130g, then we have to put an elastic band round them and put 25 in a crate. We were really slow to begin with but we are both now getting quicker, we should be able to a crate in 15 minutes, I did one in 17 today so thats not bad! We also have to pack the Basil, we are in a cool shed and we either have to put the Basil in sleeves, like ones flowers come in or just pack them as they are. Its pretty easy the packing! I seem to be fastest at planting but prefer to pack! Picking is the worst part as we are under a lot of pressure. I dont think that Jenny likes me as she always makes comments about me being slow even though me Kelly and a girl Jess we work with all work at the same speed, its got to me a few times and i've been a little upset about it, but just try to ignore her, Neil is really nice and we can have a laugh with him which is good and if you do something wrong he'll tell you in a nice way. Neil and Jenny dont normally have English girls working for them as we have a reputation for being slow but they have given us a chance and hopefully we will get to stay on the farm for a the whole time we are here. I have actually now moved hostels to a place called Ayr it is only 10 minutes down the road and owned by the same people as the last hostel I was in, its just Ayr is nearer for us to get to work, it took 45 minutes from Homehill, so we can now have an extra 10 minutes in bed which is good considering we were getting up at 5.15 every morning! I am designated driver but I dont like it as i'm really tired when we finish and dont look forward to the 30 minute drive ahead!! No one else drives so I have no choice really!! When we got to Ayr we were really happy as we got to choose between 2 rooms but with 2 single beds one had a tv and a mirror then the other had a fridge, no tv or mirror so we went for the room with the fridge, then found out the fridge doesnt work! But we found a full lenght mirror on the inside of the wardrobe door!! We treated ourselves to a toasted sandwich maker as we loved them at Homehill but there isnt a maker in Ayr it was only $10!! Bargin we also bought a kettle!! The room also has air con which we didnt have in Homehill, i'm a bit chilly at night though!! Think I need a dressing gown!!

I received some bad news last week, I got a call from my friend Lisa who I did Oz Intro with and she said there had been a car accident on Fraser Island and that Carl Morgan who also did Oz Intro had just got out of hosptial but was ok then I didn't expect her to say what she did next, she said that Ian who also did Oz Intro had died in the accident! I couldnt believe it I was so upset, he was such a lovely guy. Apparently the driver tried to avoid a wave and the 4x4 was taken 50m up the beach and rolled over 10 times, landed on its roof and people were flown from it. It sounded horrible. I just feel so sad for Ian's family. I told Kelly and we both just started crying, everyone at the hostel was really nice and Rickard and Phillip offered to cook us dinner which was really nice.

Its my birthday very very soon and me and Kelly are going away for a week! I'm so excited we are going to Magnetic Island on 8th May for 3 nights and they have a Full Moon Party which should be excellent then on the 11th we go to Mission Beach for 4 nights, and we have booked our Skydive for my birthday!!!! Its going to be such a good week i'm so so excited! It will be a nice break from work aswell. Hopefully when we get back we will still be able to work for Neil and Jenny which will be good even though I dont like it that much its regular work and the money will come in handy!!
