Mummy and Terry are here!!! yippee, they've been here about a week now. They arrived on Friday 3rd and Peter and I went to pick them up from the airport. I wanted to cry before I even saw them! Then I saw mummy and she was already crying so I started crying too! It was so nice to see them! We drove back to Peters and I helped mum unpack thier stuff and pack for Sunday as we were off to Magnetic Island then.
We went out for lunch, mum was saying that she wanted a Chicken Schnitzal as she'd had one before so we went to a really nice pub and I had a chicken Parmy which is a schnitzal with chesse, ham and a tomato sauce! It was delicious. We went to Woolongong on the Saturday to the beach and had fish and chips.
So on Sunday we headed off to Townsville, the gateway to Magnetic Island. Terry had been going on about Townsville saying that it was going to be crap but it was ok as we weren't actually staying there. We got the ferry over to Maggie. The weather had been crap for the last week but luckily the sun was shining on Maggie. We stayed at Base where I had worked last year. We had a really nice room overlooking the sea, Again Terry was saying bet there won't be a kettle in the room but there was and a fridge and we had ensuite! We dumped our stuff in the room and went in to the sea. It was so nice and really cool. We then went for a walk to the supermarket and got an ice cream, mum dropped her's on the floor so Terry had it and mum had his!! We just had a drink in Base in the evening. There were some signs up in Base saying not to go in the sea without a wetsuit on because of stingers!! whoops!!
The next day we went over to Horseshoe Bay and went on a Wildlife walk and held loads of different animals, snakes, lizards, a croc! and me and mummy held a Koala!! I held the Koala and mum and Terry got in the picture too. It was really funny as the guide was saying that we were going to see spiders next and Terry said that he didn't like them, the guide must have picked up on this because he got a spider that was wrapped in a leaf and said it was a big spider, he showed us a leg then he threw the spider towards Terry!! Terry jumped and swore it was so funny! It wasn't real! We had a bus pass so we went to Picnic Bay in the evening for a drink then to Arcadia to see the Rock Wallabies! It was really funny because it was really dark and bats kept flying out of the trees and scared us! We saw lots of Wallabies though. We went to get the bus back but I read the timetable wrong and we'd missed the last bus so we had to get a cab back!! whoops!
Mum and I went Horse Riding which was amazing, I'd done the ride when I was there last year but wanted to do it again. Mum really enjoyed it. It was a 2 hour ride through the bush then we went along the beach, before we could canter along the beach but your not allowed anymore but we got to canter up sand dunes which was amazing. We got to the beach, unsaddled, put stinger suits on and went in the sea bareback, Terry had walked up to take pictures of us. We did round the world and stood up on the horses then jumped off thier backs, it took me ages to get back on again!!
I saw Janelle, Olivia, Shannon and Will who I worked at Base with, it was really good to see them and I had a good catch up with Janelle.
Then it was off to Airlie Beach. I had booked the Premier Bus to get us there and when we got to the Transit Centre where we were getting picked up, it was all closed down and some people there said that the bus doesn't pick up from there anymore!! I'd only rang the day before to confirm the booking! I rang Premier and they said that we had to go to Dean Street car park, I didn't have a clue where that was so we got a cab there, it was only round the corner so the cab driver only charged up $4. I was really annoyed as Premier should have told me about the change when I rang!! Once the bus arrived and we got on there was a horrible smell on there!! We were on the bus for 4 hours! We drove through the town I did my fruit picking so I showed that to mum and Terry.
We finally arrived in Airlie Beach. I'd booked us in to a backpackers but had booked all 4 beds in the room so that noone else would come in, the room was really nice had a tv, fridge and ensuite. It wasn't really like we were in a hostel as the rooms were kind of in a food hall kinda place, its a bit hard to describe really but was really nice and right opposite the beach. We just had a wonder round the day we got there and went out for a really nice dinner in the evening.
The next day we went out on the Whitsundays, we went on the Ragamuffin Boat, it was such an amazing day! I'd done the Whitsundays last year but it was just after a cyclone so Whitehaven Beach, which is meant to be one of the best beaches in the world, didn't look very nice as there was crap washed up on it and the weather wasn't very good. This time though the weather was amazing and we had a picnic on the beach and put our stinger suits on and went for a lovely swim, there were fish swimming right by us. It was a really really good day I really enjoyed myself. In the evening we had another really nice dinner, we went to a place called Cactus Jacks and we just got a few bits to share, we got chicken that came out still sizzling on the plate and it was in BBQ sauce with peppers! yum it was amazing!
On the last day we just spent the day looking round the shops and we went to the lagoon, it was really nice and relaxing.
We got lots of freebies in Airlie Beach!! We'd gone to a cafe for cake and coffee and the service was crap. We went to pay and it was $19.10 so I gave Terry $50.10 and the women gave us $41 back!! Needless to say we didn't say anything and just walked out!! he he. Then on the last morning Terry went downstairs to get mum a Tea and the girl gave it to him for free!! We went to Mc D's one morning and I ordered a smoothie and a little muffin for mum which was 70c and again service was crap so when I finally got my smoothie the girl put a huge chocolate muffin in the bag! I didn't say anything and gave it to mum even though I knew she wouldn't want it but I though I'd paid 70c for it and it was probably about $4!! We put our luggage in storage the day we left and the women gave it to us for free when really we should have paid $2!!
We had to fly from Prospine in Airlie Beach to Brisbane then get a connecting flight to Sydney and we went to land in Brisbane, litterally touched the ground and took straight off again!! It was because of the weather it was really foggy and pouring down with rain!! We circled for a while then finally landed. Our connecting flight was delayed by about half hour then when we boarded we were missing some flight attendents as they were on a flight that couldn't land so we were delayed a bit further!! We got back fine though.
It was a really good week and I'm so happy to see mum and Terry again. Next week were off to Perth to see Jack! I can't wait!
The week before mum and Terry arrived I went in to Sydney to meet Jess as she'd come over for a few weeks for a holiday. We did the Bridge Climb which was really good, the weather for the week was meant to be crap so we got a bit of sun and decided to do it on the first day. It was so good. We got all kitted out and I was at the front on the line. We had to climb up some steps to get on to the main part of the Bridge which was a little scary. We got to the peak of the Bridge and the view was really good, we got pictures taken up there too. The walk down the Bridge was really scary, the guide said to the left were the steps we were climbing down and I thought he was joking as it was really steep but he wasn't!! Oh my god it was so scary, as you climb down, cars are driving past you on the Bridge, a train even went under me!! I got to the bottom and was shaking! It was horrible!! The climb was really really good though. We went over to Taronga Zoo which was fantasic! I would even say it was better than Australia Zoo which is Steve Irwins Zoo. There was a Elephant that was only a month old! It was so cute. The Zoo was huge and we didn't even get to see it all!! We got a really deal on the Ferry over to the Zoo and the ticket think we only paid about $30 when we kept seeing it advertised for $49!! Then we got the skyrail back to the bottom of the park where the ferry picks us up and you had to give a donation but we couldn't find the donation box!! he he The weather was a bit crap but we still had a really good day.
We went to Paddys Market which was great! We went over to Darling Harbour and I bought myself a pair of Ugg slippers!! They are so nice and warm and will be perfect for when I get home!! The sun was finally shining on our last day so we went over to Bondi Beach.
So were back at Peter and Gayles now, I get to see Jack next week! I cant wait!! xx
