Sorry haven't written anything for ages! Internet is a lot more expensive here then Asia!
Loved the aeroplane flight. We kinda worked out that when we land it will still be 2am in Asia, so technically we didn't need to sleep. I took this as a cue to get drunk. Its the best way to fly, the nine hours flew by! I was so groggy once we'd landed though. And the hangovers you get whilst you're still awake are never the best ones!
So we have been here for a week already and really love the City, it's clean and spacious, not too many people, and they don't shove past you when there walking. Men even give up their seats for old ladies, and let women through doors first! And staff in shops and restaurants seem genuinely happy, and smiley?!
Our first night we had spent the whole day in bed and were starving. We were staying in a hostel in Kings Cross, and it was bloody freezing. I'm talking 5-8 and windy and rainy. Luckily we found a nice big bar, with outside heating for smoking, and 75% covered. It was happy hour and the steaks were $10! And they was huge and really good! We also met some nice ozzies who worked all over in the city.
Currently we have managed to get our tax number, open up a bank account, Get a flat, have our hair cut and coloured, complete the RSA and go shopping for essentials (clothes!). We've attempted to get jobs 2 times! the first, we realised was not really a great tme to start, Saturday night! so we got drunk....The second, the first place we went into said we needed the RSA (responsible service of alcohol) course before they'd even take our Cv.....So we got drunk Lol.
We are living in Annandale in Parramatta Road and we have a bedroom with two single beds, dvd, tv, wardrobes etc. A kitchen with all your mod cons and a bathroom. It's great because the shower isn't actually right next to the toilet its quite big. We are five minutes by bus from the City Centre and from there you can walk for ten fifteen minutes to darling harbour or get the sky train (which is expensive!)
We had a fun day on Sunday for Jess's birthday and went to Taronga zoo which you have to catch a boat for. So we got a nice view of Sydney opera house and the bridge. The zoo was really good, most things didn't have cage's but it wasn't as unsafe as KL zoo I don't reckon! And other bits it was glass so you could see the animals properly! Lots of Kangaroos as you can imagine! That evening we had a really nice meal in Darling Harbour. It looks really pretty at night, filled with bars and restaurants and all lit up with the skyscrapers in the background (picture at the top is darling harbour)
Yesterday we were so exhausted we spent the whole day in our pj's and cooked ourself a veggy lasagne (its so nice to cook for ourselves again!) and drank wine from our two litre box of chardonnay (10 dollars!!! thats like 4quid). So today we aren't coming home till we have a job and we really should get started..............it's three in the afternoon here! lol xxxxxxx
