I can't believe it's our last day! I don't know why but I'm fearful of going to oz and back to work and how much I'm going to miss it here!
Yesterday we did some sightseeing, we decided to get the Chao Pahyraya express (once again probally not correct spelling) which is a boat that goes along the river. It is so much quicker, and cheaper to go by public transport. The traffic is mental here. We went to China town first, it was our third China town but the first time we'd visited during the day and it was SHOPPING central. Seriousely these guys must spend their life shopping. We had definately had enough of the shopping so we just had a little wander around the markets, and tried to avoid being run over by a vendor. I saw one frying little quail eggs, looked so nice! We got back on the river boat and made our way up to the Grand palace and the Wat (Can't remember it's name but its in the palace grounds). The river here is so swollen the water was coming right up over the edges in most parts, and makeshift walkways had been made over the fixed ones, it was that bad. your feet got soaked. And the river is potentially more gross then the Thames! Alarmingly I did see some people in the river, and I felt bad for a lady who's washing she had put out to dry was getting soaked by the waves! It was getting a little rough it was such an overcast day, just knew it was gunna rain soon.
It's a short easy walk to the palace, and when you get there they have to check out what your wearing. if what you are wearing is deemed indecent you get to borrow some fetch sarongs and shirts! luckily me and Jess had thought a head and survived the check. Its pretty expensive the palace 300 Baht, which I guess isn't so much in England at 5pounds! But wow, it was amazing, The Wat which was first looked like a fairytale castle in the sky, I half expected to see unicorns and other mythical creatures flying around. Actually I think it reminded me perhaps of Aladdins castle and Princess Jasmine! Well anyway the architecture was painstakingly astounding and so gold and shiny, all the pieces looked like they'd been fitted in like a mosaic. The Palace, was like a palace, same same! We did get fre tickets to a museum which was particularly interesting, altohugh a bit of a trick. it looked tiny, but it was like a neverending maize! They like there Betel whatsits I've no idea what that is.
On the way back on the river it rained!! which was pretty scary thought I'd slip in the dirty river trying to get back on the boat! There are always lots of Monks walkin around Everywhere and Bangkok is no different. Saw a particularly smiley one on the boat, with matchin orange satchel and umbrella. Got so excited cause he actually spoke to me!! Asked me where I was from and then tried to imply I was the couple opposites daughter!!lol Jess thought he'd been drinking! but im not sure if that is allowed?!!
Running outta internet time.... But last night ate at a restaurant called cabbages and condoms. all profits go towards aids awareness and stuff. It was well good food. and everywhere was decorated with sculptures made from condoms and pill packets! We even got condoms with our bill! Anyways I guess we're off to our next country...beware if you go to Bangkok the mosquitos are MONSTERs I'm probally aneamic by now!!
