We arrived in Phi Phi Island at around 10am and went to find accomodation. There was a really helpful guy who worked at a dive school who pointed us in the right direction and the boys went off to find a bargain! They found a little cabin for 800baht which was pretty good. It was a bit of a treck away and the roads arent exactly roads so it took a while but it was a really nice little place with a hammock outside. Me and Mike went to the main beach in the afternoon, but it wasnt very nice. The water was pretty dirty and you had to wade out for ages to get any depth, so we went to find another beach which was SO much nicer! We headed back about 4pm for a power-nap and bumped into a friend of mine who i met in Sydney. His friend who he is travelling with got really sick and had to be taken to hospital! So he's had to come on his own. We arranged to meet up with him later on for some food. We all went out around 8pm to get some food and have a few drinks. On the way the boys met some girls who they had met earlier who were booking a day trip to Phi Phi Le, which is where most of 'The Beach' was filmed! I had already been but Mike, Jules and Magnus (the guy i met in sydney) booked on the trip aswell. In Thailand all the backpackers drink 'buckets' which are literally like sand castle buckets filled with alcohol! Mainly whiskey!! I dont even like whiskey, but... when in Rome!! That night was a late one, but really good fun.. The Islands night life is SO relaxed. Everyone is just out to have fun and there is never any stress. You can bring your drinks from bar to bar and you dont have to pay in or be wearing a certain thing to get in.
The next morning the boys headed off on their trip (feeling a little worse for wear!). I walked up to the view point which is up like a million steps!! I was wrecked my the time i got up in th heat but it was SO worth it! You can see the whole Island and this is where alot of the photos were taken from after the Tsunami so its pretty iconic! On the way back down i had to reasure everyone coming up that it was worth it because i know i had thought of turning back half way! I spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach and then waited for the boys to get back from their trip. They had a brilliant time! Their photos were really good. Headed back to our usual dinner spot around 8pm with the girls from their trip and a few other friends. The restaurant is so good! The portions are MASSIVE and its on about 80baht. (around 3 pounds) There was no way i could finish mine. Coming from Thailand where the food is around 20baht, 80baht is actually quite expensive but not in the grand sceme of things. Ever since, ive just been having a spring roll (which again are massive) for 20baht! We stayed out for a few drinks that night but headed home pretty soon as we were all wrecked.
The next day was just spent on the beach. We booked our ferry to 'Ko Lepi' for tomorrow morning at 8am, so we werent planning on going out that night, but its so hard to resist on this Island!! So it was another bucket filled night and we ended up at the beach party until pretty late (or early?!!?!) Nothing stops here... the parties go on til 7am!
So having not gone to sleep we packed our things and headed for the ferry. When we got there and said 'Where is the ferry to Ko Lei??' The guy pointed out ot sea! We had missed it by 5 minutes! At 1st we were all pretty annoyed at ourselves, but after we found out that we could be easily transfered to the one the next day for no charge we were fine. I mean, its not as if we were stuck in hell!! We ended up finding some really cheap accomodation for the night and went straight there for a nap! Its a really strange place! Its in the training ground for all the Thai boxers! So you can hear the training 24/7! Very bazar! We slept until about lunch time and then me and mike headed to the beach. Spent most of the day in the water because it was SO hot! That night there wasNO WAY i was going out! We HAD TO get that ferry the next morning! So it was an early night for me.
