So!!! Bangkok!!!!! We were trying to think of 1 word to discribe it... and we just couldnt! so we've narrowed it own to 3. Mental! Busy! Crazy! Because ive been there before i kinda knew what to expect, but i really felt for the boys and lauren cuz i know how i first felt when i got here last year with Catherine.
I got into Bangkok quite late and was nervous about getting a taxi into the centre on my own but when i was waiting outside some scotish guy cam up and asked if i wanted to share a taxi so we managed to barter the taxi down to 500 baht and hoped in. Turns out the guy is called Alan and he's lovely. So i get out at Koa San Road and gave him my number and told him that we'll all meet up for a drink cuz he's on his own. After standing for a while i spot mike and lauren waiting for me and i cant get to them quick enough! There are SO many people in the way trying to sell me stuff! It was SOOOOOO nice to see him again! Amazing to see a friendly face and to meet lauren who i'd never met but heard alot about. She is LOVELY!!!! Such a nice girl! So we head off to our hotel and sit up late talking. Mum had sent over a package with Mike which had loads of treats in it which was amazing! We all have so much to tell each other but we are wrecked! So we head to bed about 2am and set our alarms for 9.30 to get up and meet jules. Slept well with the air-con! We couldnt get in contact with Jules to tell him where the hotel was but we knew he had the address. When i came down from my room to see mike, jules just appeared from round the corner! Again.. it was AMAZING to see him! He had 3 packages for me. A letter and a butterfly clip from Beccy H, a letter, photos and a picture from Becky Clayburn and a packet of toffee pops (our favourite biscuits) and balloons from Emma! It was SO nice! Getting stuff from home, or just realising that people are still missing you means SO much!
We all went for a bit of breakfast an then headed for a walk about. Everyone had their first go at barganing with the locals over sunglasses and t-shirts! So funny! Jules has the charm like! So funny watching him barter! Then we went to the Golden Palace which was SO beautiful! I never got to go the last time i was here so it was a 1st for all of us! My favourite part was when we got to go ito the temple where loads of people go to worship. they had a MASSIVE shrine and insense burning. It was SO peaceful. I could have stayed there all day!
That night we went out for a few drinks which ended up into a big night out and we stayed up til 7am in the bar across the way from our hotel, so the next day we awere all feeling very sorry for ourselves when we had to get up at 11.30am to check out!
That day we moved into our new hostel which was interesting! I quite liked it, but it literally was 3 beds in a room. Was dirt cheap tho so cant complain. My voice had been going yesterday but today i couldnt speak AT ALL! We went out for a few drinks that night, but i went back early cuz i wasnt feeling too good but the boys stayed out and it was another 7am bedtime for them!!
The next day our bus was picking us up at 6am to go to Phuket. We were going to fly, but the bus was 1/4 of he price... 5 pounds!! We packed all our stuff and said goodbye to our friends who we'd met along the way. Thats one of the things i hate about travelling... when you meet really cool people and then have to say goodbye to them after a few days. I suppose thats all part of it tho! Our bus didnt end up picking us up an hour late and at about 7.15pm we were on a 13 hour trip to phuket! ...
