We're staying in Asakusa, which is in the North East of Tokyo. It is one of the few remaining traditional parts of Tokyo left. It used to be the red light district though! We went for a wander round the area. Ended up at Kaminarimon gate, you go through here and a busy market street to end up at the Sensoji temple. Inside the temple there is a shrine, most people were putting money in and then praying. Also inside were fortune telling sticks, basically you put 100 yen in a box, then you shake this box and a long wooden stick falls out, on the stick is a number which corresponds to a drawer and this has your fortune inside on a piece of paper.Kate did hers first and she got a good fortune, saying now was a good time for traveland to get married. I did mine, I got number 69! Needless to say it was a bad fortune and it said I shouldn't travel.
We also saw a pagoda and some other interesting buildings around that area. Then we had lunch at this Japanese cafe. Practised pointing at the menu or the plastic food outside!
In the evening we went to the hostel bar, (Bar 23) which is actually a couple of blocks away. We met two guys there (not in any way attractive) and organised to go out the next night.
