Monday 21st September - Tourist Montpellier
We eventually made it into the main part of town and it was quite hot. We went to the tourist office and got hold of some brochures that were in English. All of the brochures in the apartment are in French.
We decided to do the little train trip around the old part of the city and duly hopped on as the 12 noon train was the last before everything ground to a holt at 1.00pm. It's a crazy thing to happen and not all of the shops close their doors for 1 to 2 hours but it's frustrating as hell not to be able to get anything you need for a couple of hours.
The train trip was not the best of tours that we have done but it went up some very narrow streets to the highest part of the town and then started weaving its way back down to the plaza that we left from. The driver got out and walked away and we went and had lunch, omelette and beer and watched the people passing by.
All very nice and when we finished and had paid and walked back past the two little trains were still parked up.
