We got out reasonably early and stopped around the road for a coffee. After I came out from paying there was all of a sudden a huge commotion, sirens blaring, tyres squealing and we looked down past the tram and a van that was out of control came around the tram at speed and crashed into the post holding up the tram lines.

It was like a movie, police everywhere on motorbikes and plain and police cars. The driver opened the door quickly and took off at speed into the park close by followed by police on motor bikes.
The other guy couldn't get out of the van as the front right wheel had broken off and wedged against the front door.
The police soon fixed that and yanked the small guy out of the van and flung him onto the ground, handcuffed him and a burly lady cop put her foot into the middle of his back and pressed him into the pavement.

All this was very exciting and before very long there was a big crowd of onlookers. Our only problem was that the tram that we were meant to catch into town was now stuck because the van was now at rest across both sets of tracks and the trams were going nowhere in either direction.
