We headed off through the towns of Milltown and Castlemaine before stopping for photos at the beachside town of Inch. We had a short stop at Dingle before going for a drive around the very scenic Slea Head.
There was a bit of excitement when we encountered an oncoming car along the very narrow and winding cliff side road. There was a lot of shuffling in forwards and reverse for both the car and the coach. Eventually, Tom and a couple of others, manhandled the small car sideways! Apparently, the locals have an agreement that the road is one-way only but nobody told the poor French couple in the small hire car!
At the end of the headland, we stopped for photos at the westernmost point of Ireland looking out to the Blasket Islands. We continued around the loop back to the very pretty town of Dingle, where we had lunch and bought an Irish Linen table cloth. On the way to Tralee we were stopped by a lone policewoman, and had to wait a few minutes for a charity walk to pass.
On arrival in Limerick, we said goodbye to our stand-in coach driver Martin, who had stood in during Sean's 2 day break. In the evening, Sean drove us out to Knappogue Castle near Quin where we enjoyed a fabulous medieval banquet in a 500 year old castle.
