Today, we did a round trip around The Ring of Kerry (or Iveragh Peninsula to give it its correct name). We started off with group photo at Fossa where apparently there should have been majestic views of lakes and mountains in the background. Unfortunately, the morning started with a heavy fog so there was nothing to be seen. After an overly long stop at a tourist trap a bit further along, the fog had cleared a bit.
We continued on in an anticlockwise direction, through the towns of Glenbeigh and Cahersiveen with some scenic coastal views, but it was difficult to get photos as we were on the wrong side of the bus. We had a stop for tea and scones near Cahersiveen before continuing on through the beachside town of Waterville. We finally stopped for photos at high point looking back to Waterville as well as further in the direction we were travelling.
We continued on to the town of Sneem where we stopped for lunch before continuing up into the mountains. We stopped at Queen Victoria's Ladies View for a panoramic view of the lakes in the valley leading back into Killarney.
Back in Killarney, we all went for a long ride on a horse drawn jaunting car through the National Park and down to Ross Castle by the lake before coming back to town for an early dinner and a bit of souvenir shopping.
