We had a booking for Alcatraz at 1:45pm, so after breakfast at Denny's downstairs, we decided to fill the morning in on the Golden Gate bus trip for a second time hoping to get a clearer view. Betsy was driving again...we thought we put her off her commentary a bit because we already knew all her lines and she had nothing new to say! The foggy bridge was much the same... maybe it was just a little better.
After that we took a ferry trip from Pier 33 to Alcatraz and went on a self guided audio tour of the prison. That was really good... probably the best audio tour I've heard.
Back at Fisherman's Wharf, we had dinner at Rainforest Cafe which is a Jungle Themed restaurant full of animatronic elephants and gorillas etc.
The weather here is really cool... We're all wearing jeans and jumpers. It's an amazing contrast to the east coast where we were sweltering in near 100 deg F temperatures. Apparently, San Francisco is famous for being cool. Mark Twain supposedly remarked that the coldest winter he ever endured was a summer in San Francisco.
