Roller coaster fortnight!
So we're in Cairns for Ken to have medical treatment. He will have Angioplasty on Monday that's if the hospital here accept a UK Insurance company. So what led us to be here?
Two weeks ago today we travelled back from our Education meetings in Kundiawa. Whilst there Ken felt chest pains just like in Kathmandu [mind you he told me on the plane back from Kathmandu!] so we thought it was the altitude again. We agreed he'd go to see our Madand Dr [wonderful character] and because he had already got a stress test booked in Port Moresby, the capital, he assumed I was going as well. Oh no, why would anyone want to go to Moresby says I. Anyway he insisted and the office tried to book me on the flight but could only get me wait listed and to be honest neither of us was fussed!
So off he went at 6am [well I wasn't going to get up and then have to come back if not on the flight!!] His stress test didn't go well and he admitted that on the way to Moresby he'd taken two tablets. Oh missed a bit out here!
The evening after we got back from Kundiawa we'd been invited to our Nepalese friens home for dinner. I decided not to go as felt battered from the journey. Then the next morning we had been invited to Rashmi's for breajfast before Chusrch. Monday night we took the leaving volunteers out for dinner. So quite a busy weekend especially food wise!! Monday night Ken had chest pains and so I insituted that we went to the hospital. Very impressed that the system worked and the security firm sent someone to check that we were ok and then Sanjay from Nepal who is a new programme manager joined me for the long wait which was great. By 1am they decided to admit him into Intensive care for the night. All alone with all the nurses and Drs!!! I drove home, don't worry only 200 metres with Sanjay behind me. The next morning they discharged him. Gerard our programme manager and his assistant Marshall came up to visit at this point. OK I'm missing the entertainment out from spending hours in A+E but did all thsi on the BLOG two weeks ago and a power cut wiped me out!!!!!

Annette I'm so glad they're taking all the crap out of their food YAY! I don't do well with plans and other pepole telling me what to do..but JC is a great thing for someone who is clueless about nutrition or, like you said, doesn't have the time to deal with figuring it all out. But eventually you have to go off of it and learn to do it on your own anyway.. do they teach you how to do maintenance on your own?
