When we arrived in cairns, we picked up our 'Juicy' van and headed towards Cape Tribulation. It's so much fun having the van and being able to drive everywhere. On the way to Cap Trib we stopped off at Port Douglas for the night in a backpachers/camp site called Dougies which was so good. It was wierd sleeping in the car and cooking our food from the back of it but at the same time it was nice to actually be able to cook for ourselves, we did have a wierd guy camping next to us, who would not stop talking about absolute rubbish and who had been living there for over a year, and all i wanted to do was sit and chill out and he was rabbiting on, so we decided to watch a dvd in the van, i know talk about flash packers, we even have a dvd player!
Cape tribulation is a rainforest that meets the sea and it is just gorgeous, blue sea and fine white sands, and obviously the forest is lush and green, it is such a beautiful place. Cape Trib is really tiny though and there is not that much to do there so we just stayed for the one night, but on the second day i met up with Sarah-Jane from the Rock tour and we went horse riding together. That was so much fun, i used to go for lessons when i was younger so was a little nervous as i had not ridden for ten years but to my relief it all came flooding back and it was the most amazing fun. We`went riding through the forest and along the beach and stopped off for a swim. My horse was called Midnight and he was the most gorgeous black horse who was a bit grumpy at first but had the most smooth canter. Obviously Darren decided to skip the riding. he recons his bum would be sore, never mind him, i can hardly walk at the moment, i am so sore!!
I also went and viseted a rescued fruit bat called Sunshine, she was so cute and was climbing all over me, its so wierd because she does not have hands but just a massive claw that just about takes your skin off, but she was so sweet and i actually fell in love with her.
We did not do much else in cape Tribulation as it was really tiny so headed back for Cairns for a few more days and hopefully organise some diving!!
