I am just loving Australia, its been so fantastic and we have met some ace people already, I honestly don't want it to end and we have already done some fantastic things!! Its so different here in Queensland compared to being in The Northern Territory, mainly because of the contrast between the desert and the rainforests, its so lush and green here. Cairns is so cool, it such a chilled out city and I really enjoyed staying here. We stayed in a Holiday camping site again with our trusty van which we have named Shrek which we thought was a very fitting name, its really nice in the camping sites as there are pools and a big communal kitchen and all amenities so we have everything here, and we are eating so well too, its so great cooking for ourselves or should I say its nice that Darren is cooking for us J .
Cairns does not have that much to offer in activities' other than the famous great barrier reef, which of course we dived and yes it defiantly lives up to its reputation, its so pretty and the reef we dived was just spectacular and had some lovely swim throughs that we could go into, just stunning, the coral was just so pretty. The boat we were on was really small but the staff were friendly and they made it so fun for us. We went out the night before so were very hung-over may have been drunk still, oops… but it was so good, in-between dives I had sneaky sleeps on top deck, anyway so we met up with Sarah-Jane for a few drinks in town, and it turned out to be a mad night, because when we walked into the first pub there was a pub crawl being announced, four free drinks and a t-shirt , we were sold at that and then we could win some prizes too, so we joined the crowd, it was so much fun and we ended up playing some really crazy games that consisted of Darren throwing me around like a rag doll, unfortunately though because I was laughing so much we came fourth and did not win the bunji jump, but it was great fun and we continued the night with crazy shenanigans in mind.
It was time to move on so shrek took us on the road and we headed for Mission beach, on the way there we stopped off at Wooroonooran National Park, and visited the stunning Josephine Falls where we had a swim in the ice cold water and slid down the smooth rocks, it was great fun and was a lovely break from driving. when we got to Mission beach we stopped of for a coffee and I saw a sky diving video and had to do it, the woman behind the bar really sold it to me and before I knew it I was being whisked off to the plane, what a great view from the plane, I was slightly s***ting myself the further up we went but was getting really excited at the same time, Darren was a scardy cat and decided not to do it with me so 14000 feet later I was being hauled out the plane, what a rush, one minute of free falling through the clouds to our deaths…well that's what I though anyway…until the parachute went up I was screaming all the way, the view was just spectacular and we were souring over the blue ocean. I cant actually explain how beautiful it was, it actually took my breath away!
I was buzzing for hours after that and so decided to stay the night there, we got a free night in there caravan park too that was a bonus. Twelve hours of sleep later we decided to make our way to Airlie beach as we have booked up two nights on a yacht….anyway we drove for eight hours doing a few coffee breaks and one more water fall stop at Wallaman falls which is the highest water fall in Australia (268 metres), it was so pretty and the gorge was really beautiful.
miss you all....until next time xxx
