Hey petals! Took a two day slow boat to get here from Huay Xie, rock hard wooded benches and not very much leg room! They kept packing people onto the boat, and when it was chock full they loaded on...a motorbike...sacks of grain...and about ten crates of beer Lao :) The trip was long and really hard on our bums but the scenery was beautiful. We passed the time away people watching, reading and listening to music. Im quite new to the whole mp3 thing so was having a great time making a t*t of myself bouncing down the Mekong to Groove Armada. Given our surroundings it really should have been The Stones, Hendrix or the Doors, but you cant beat a bit of Superstylin (right Tiny?!) Armed with 1.25 million Kip we spent the night in an unknown town where the electricity went off at 10pm. Spent far too much money! Arrived in Luang Prabang yesterday afternoon and checked into a lovely Guesthouse which is listed as an unbelievable bargain in the Lonely Planet! Its so laid back here! And so amazingly different from anywhere else we have been so far. It's a really small town with lots of Wats to wander around. Strong coffee and a nectar like lager are specialities! Tomorrow we are planning a visit to a local waterfall and caves. We may finish off the day with a sauna and massage....ahh! Our next stop is Vang Vieng, so will upload photos then.
