Went on an organised day tour to see the reclining Buddha and the famous Ayutthya temple. This is not to be missed, fabulous place. Also went to the King's Summer Palace where we had to wear something to cover our shoulders and were given sarongs (we were both wearing shorts). We were driven round in a golf buggy as the estate is massive and it is very hot. Fabulous variety of architecture and decor inside the palace gates. Outside slums and smell!! Well that's life! Got a river boat back to Bangkok. This was nice but took too long and the food was crap. The air here is so dirty, you would really need to wear a mask to breathe properly. Went for a great Italian meal (yay, normal food!). Went to Brown Sugar Bar after. Fab live jazz music venue. Highly recommended! Disappointing that most places (well the kind of places we want to be!) close at 1am.
