Took the sky train to the weekend market. The sweat poured off us and the smells left a lot to be desired. The market sellers will really try it on with you when they see white skin but remember to haggle and stay haggling. Found an Irish bar - The Dubliner. Good food and atmosphere here. Went on an organised day tour to see the reclining Buddha and the famous Ayutthya temple. This is not to be missed, fabulous place. Also went to the King's Summer Palace where we had to wear something to cover our shoulders and were given sarongs (we were both wearing shorts). We were driven round in a golf buggy as the estate is massive and it is very hot. Fabulous variety of architecture and decor inside the palace gates. Outside slums and smell!! Well that'...

Hired a driver called Yoyo for the day. He was really good fun, a 'lunatic' of a driver though!! He played cheesy muzak in the car all day for us....John Denver, The Carpenters etc. We had a great old sing song! First stop was the floating market. Has to be seen to be believed. Arrived in Bangkok on the 14th September. Coming through immigration was hell....especially with our hangovers. We had to queue for almost 2 hours with no water vending machines in sight... be prepared!! Got a cab to the Asia Hotel and asked the driver several times if we were in the right place.....the hotel was fabulous.....very swish.
