S: So we all woke up and Marika is struggling to keep her stomach lol and we have to go pick up the van. The company was called Juicy Lucy, the van's name was Filly and she was bright green and purple, nice and inconspicuous! We picked up the van and the guy handing the van over didn't stop talking for what seemed like hours, Marika even laid down in the van he took so long. So us three girls are feeling a little ropey and decided that maybe drinking till 3am wasn't really a good idea when you have to pick a van up at 8am. James drove first and our first port of call is the supermarket and Dan Murphy's (a Liquor Store; these are the only places to buy Alcohol), James said we had to get some Tim-Tams as he tried them on the dive boat and they are a traditional Aussie chocolate biscuit. By this time Georgie and I are feeling a little bit more human and can face a beer again. We drove in the van until Palm Cove, which is a beautiful beach and had our first meal in the van. What more can you ask for, a bacon sandwich with a beer lol. We went for a wander along the pier and just taking in the scenery meanwhile learning that Marika is apparently quite scared of crocodiles! There were warnings not to swim in the sea because of them, so being careful we only dipped our toes whilst on croc alert even though people were swimming in the sea.
J: We kept driving to Port Douglas, on the way we stopped to watch a Hang Glider take off, it was a tiny little run before up in the sky they went, we all pondered about having a go but it wasn't cheap there. We arrived at Port Douglas and it was a lovely little town, we walked up to the local lookout point over the town to the sea. We found a car park looking over the river and parked up for the night (we weren't meant to stay overnight here but we weren't the only campervan), our first night sleeping in the van, which had 2 people in the main body of the vehicle, then had the "penthouse" on the top. To describe the penthouse is simple; with the push of a button the hard roof lifts up to reveal a tent on top of the vans roof, with a stepladder that gives access…. That's where Sam and I were voted to sleep.
