So after months of waiting and an 18 hour journey with a very rushed stop off in Qatar we have finally arrived in bangkok! The heat (and the smell) hits us as soon as we walk out of the air conditioned airport. We get in a taxi straight away and it takes us over an hour and a half to drive the 10km to the hotel because of the awful traffic! But still manages to cost us just 300 baht (less than £6) we arrive at the hotel: Rambuttri village inn and plaza at 10.30 am the staff are friendly and allow us to check in 4 hours early! The hotel is nice and clean and has very strong aircon! (Very important!) the roof top pool is also nice, however the hotels website does state that there are 2 pools but one turned out to be a very big pond, complete with fish! We go for a "quick nap" and end up waking up at 5pm! (Jetlags a b****) so we get ready and go exploring koh San road which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, in the first 5 minutes we are offered a number a number of strange products and services, having done 3 seasons abroad in Magaluf I thought I'd seen it all... I was wrong. These included an electric taser, which I obviously had to "try before we buy" on Elliot's chest, a massage with or with out happy ending, a blow job from a monkey, and a large variety of deep fried insects. We finally get through the desperate sales people and hundreds of tuk tuk drivers and finally settle on somewhere to eat we order a variety of thai appetisers to share which aren't too bad considering I am very fussy with food, later we go to a few roof top bars selling very cheap cocktails and free games of Jenga and connect 4, after it became too cruel to beat Elliot at any more games we continue to explore koh San and later end up in another part of town, pat pong, where we are some how lured into a Ping pong show! With put going in to detail we then had to buy Elliot a new tshirt and contined to explore the night market and bars of patpong where we buy our standard backpacker fake rolexs. We return home to our lovely air conditioned room and call it a night!
