A sad day today as we pack and prepare for our trip home tomorrow. The bike fit beautifully in the box and we managed to get out and about by lunchtime. Tried out Fugetsu Okonomiyaki Bar, a neat place where you cook your own okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake). We tried the normal style and the Hiroshima style (which we cook at home occasionally). Both were great. We also loved that there was an I-pad at each table where we could enter our order and watch instructional videos on how to cook our meal. So clever and lots of fun.
Next we found the 100 yen shop (like our $2 dollar shop) and did a bit of shopping. Actually finding it was a bit funny as we went to the building on the map where it was supposed to be but I didn't recognise the sign so we got in the elevator thinking it was up a few floors then the guy in the elevator said it was on the ground floor. It was actually the first five floors of the building! Quite an impressive range of products. Kind of like The Warehouse but even cheaper.
I was feeling a bit giddy and tired from this head cold I've picked up so we stopped at McDonalds for a snow cone and enjoyed the view of central Sapporo, Shane tells me it was even more impressive when he was strolling around last night with all the lights and music etc.
I came back to the hotel for a lie down and Shane took Elsie back to the park for one last play. Then we played musical elevators at the hotel, I went down and they came up, then I went up and they came down etc etc (that went on for a bit too long actually!). And we finally made it out to dinner at a ShabuShabu restaurant around the corner. Yum! So a good food day today and we are mostly organised for tomorrow. Thankfully not an early start.
