Spain
Madrid and Barcelona
After along drive (3 days) we have finally reached Madrid. " El Toro". On arrival we visited the Prado museum. Some amazing pictures to be seen. 'Originals" dating back to the 16th century. It is another picturesque and historical city. Statues and cathedrals outstanding. A half day trip to Toledo was well worth the effort. It is a walled city built on top of a hill. It was like arriving in another era. The walls, Castles and buildings still in tact and a massive cathedral in the middle. It is the anc ient capital of Spain. Breathtaking scenery on the way in. Yes I did take heaps of photos. Been warned to be very aware of the pick pockets here. They seem to be everywhere you go which is the only downer.
Off to Bareclona, another 600 kilometres. Starting to get used to these long drives now. Bareclona is another picturesque and historical city of Spain. Famed for its bull fights. One of the bull rings is now a shopping mall. A different city situated on the coast of Spain. The gothic cathedral towers over the middle of the city. Still not completly finished. They say another 20 to 30 years maybe. Had a look at a fountain at night that lite up and played to music. Very impressive. Had lunch at the marina. Felt like you were in a different city. Another interesting place to visit. They have a park here with mosaic decorations in it. Reminded me of Akaroa. Going to a Flamenco show and dinner tonight. Should be good.
