Bled
On our way to Slovenia we passed countryside in Croatia where they have warnings about going into fields that still have un exploded landmines. Also we passed little villages that were bombed in the war. You could see where roofs were hit by bombs and even saw where schrapnel and mortar wholes were in buildings. Makes you think hard.Never expected to see anything like that. It has taken so long and they are still recovering from the war.
Slovenia
What a lovely picturesque country. First of all we went to the Postojnska Caves which were amazing. You went by train 2 kms into the underground caves. When you got in you walked 1.5 kms going down passags with amazing stalanites and stagalites. It was like walking through another planet . You kept on expecting an alien to appear. Then onto Bled where our hotel was situated on the lake front. Slovenia countryside is alot like NZ with trees and mountains all over. The difference is there are lovely little villages with chalets. Alot like Switzerland. Lake Bled is amazing. A castle overlooking it and a church built on an island in the middle. We were rowed out to the island by an Antony Hopkins look alike. Later on we had a walk around the lake. 6.5 kms. A wedding party passed us by in a horse and carridge with the drivers dressed in traditional costumes. Our whole stay here has been fantastic. Could of stayed alot longer.
