Hong Kong
11th May.
The day has finally arrived. Along wait and then off to the airport. 3 flights over about 16hrs and we are finally in Hong Kong or should I say Pong Kong. Has got a smell and quite smoggy. Didn't sleep much but got there safely. 34 degrees. Had a walk up th street while waiting on our room to be ready. Boy its a busy place. Hard to keep our bearings as cant read the signs. Over the next few days lost our direction a couple of times. Doesn't look a very clean place either. Our hotel and street weren't very attractive from the outside but once we got in was very nice. In the afternoon we went on a gondola ride up to a massive budha. Very enjoyable. Could see for miles and ride just kept on going. When we got up there the budha was amazing. You could walk up steep steps to it and even go inside. We went back down and went into a temple. The art work is fantastic. That night as you do on the first night of holiday we went to the bar to keep ourselves awake so we wouldn't go to bed to early. We ended up meeting up with a chap from Auckland who later on took us to the most expensive hotel in Hong Kong just to have 1 drink and look out the window at the views over the water front and skyscrapers. Was well worth it. Yes I do have a new facebook mate and that was the first night. Haha. The next day rained but we did a sightseeing tour up to Victoria Peak. Unfortunately the view was not very good. Very smoggy. Couldn't see much at all. We went around other places but the one we both enjoyed was having a ride on a sanpan around a little harbour in Aberdeen. You had a mix of rich boats and very poor fishing boats all side by side. That night we walked down to the harbour and watched the sympony of lights which is a light and music show which lasts 10 minutes every night at 8 o'clock. They make the lights flash on buildings (skyscrapers) to the music. Very well done and worth the walk. (Didn't get lost on the way home this time. Haha.) The next day we went to a park and saw the panda bears. Had a quiet day as we were flying to Zurich and then onto Athens. 13 1/2 hrs to Zurich and 3 hrs to Athens. Hope we get more sleep this time. Both ready to leave Hong Kong and get onto the really exciting stuff.
