Melbourne is just amazing. I love it so much!
Since the last blog...(this is sooo difficult trying to remember what I've done)..Laura's friend Ennis took us out to Brunswick Street to a bar called Night Cat and there was a great jazz band on, there were about 10 of them! That was really fun, but the drinks round here are so damn expensive, a tiny glass of wine was like 3 pounds. UGH. The girls were staying at Ennis' so I made my way back to the hostel and ended up playing drinking games til 7am with a bunch of very excitable Kiwis.. this was all great fun until I realised I was meant to be meeting the girls at 12 to go to a footie match!
I made it though! Got myself to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and saw Collingwood v Hawthorn. It was so much fun! The stadium is HUGE and we were quite high up so got some good pictures. The crowd was about 76,000..awesome. I thought I'd hate Aussie Rules but it's actually quite exciting, I know rules and stuff, I'm almost a pro. Plus the players wear tiny shorts and sleeveless tops which lovingly show off their beautifully sculptured arms....niiiiiiiiice. So thankful for the great zoom in my camera.
This was to be my last time with the girls (or so we thought! seeing them in sydney tomorrow yay!) so I tried to hold back the tears and made my way back to the hostel to get ready to meet Mel and Susie for a night out by Susie's place. We went out in Chapel St and St Kilda, it was a good night but again, expensive drinks, and the last bar we went to, Cushion, was full of the most obnoxious girls I've ever come across! The all look the same (like models, pah) and would just push you out the way without a second thought and look down their fake tanned noses at you as if you were something on their shoe. Maybe it was because they were all dressed up to the nines and I was in my backpacker special of jeans, top and flip flops! Who knows. Good fun though.
Next day I went to another AFL game - this time at the Telstra Dome to see Essendon v Port Adelaide. Not as good as the MCG game but still fun. And free tickets (these girls I met know one of the Essendon players..number 7..that's all I know) so can't complain! An early night was definitely called for as I was up at 7am the next day for..............
NEIGHBOURS TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, FINALLY, it had come around! The reason I had decided to go to Melbourne, hell, the reason I decided to go to AUSTRALIA. I was going to mecca. The bus had neighbours written all over it - 'just what the doctor ordered' apparently - they were playing old school episodes on the bus (best one - charlene (kylie) wanting to go on the pill - hahahaha), other cars at traffic lights would look at you in disgust, but we don't care! First we went to Erinsborough High which was sadly a bit disappointing as I didn't recognise it at all! Must take further note when watching Neighbours next...was praying for Susan Kennedy to rock up but no :(
They then took us to Pin Oak Court AKA Ramsay Street. It is TINY. SO SMALL. But apart from that it looks exactly the same as it does on tv, incredible! Got way too many pictures, all on facebook for all to see. We then went off to meet a 'surprise star' who turned out to be evil doctor Darcy!! He was really friendly, chatty..with SOUP STAINS ON HIS CHIN!! Whaaaat! Turn off to the max.
Went back to the hostel (quite a short tour to be fair) and went shopping! Woo! Got my hair cut and coloured tho which was the best thing ever..I finally have nice hair!! Woohoo! It cost me 50quid which I don't think was too bad for cut and colour, plus it's the best cut I've had in ages! (No more Stuart at Charlie Brown - I now have to commute to Melbourne for decent haircuts guys)
The evening brought on.....NEIGHBOURS NIGHT!! It was at a british pub called the Elephant and Wheelbarrow in St Kilda, cost $40!! But so worth it. I met Connor, Stuart Parker (HOT), Dr Karl and Janelle. So much fun. Had snakebites which was awesome. Saw lots of friends too which was great. The guy who runs it started singing the Neighbours song at the begining and got everyone to sing along... then he shoves the bloody mic in my face! I was stunned and just sang 'I don't know the bloody woooooooords' neighbours style. CRINGE!
When that was over we went to the only bar open, Traffic. Didn't realise it was a gay night, and full of drag queens! Awesome fun. Until they dragged me on stage nad told me to take my top off and hop along... ummm. No. Tranny said that she wouldnt touch me with a bean pole which was nice, haha.
Cred running out!!!!!! LOVE MELBOURNE DONT WANT TO LEAVE!!! lotsa love xxxxxxx
