We had an early start today because we looked at the map and figured out if we carried on at the same rate as we had been going we would have a MAMOUTH driving sesh on monday!!!! First off we headed to the Arch and London Birdge two rock formations just outside of Port Campbell. After this we were heading to a place called Warnambool which is a town just after the end of the Great Ocean Raod and where there is supposedly whale spotting when it is whale season - which it is at the minute. Before we got to the town we saw a sign saying "tourists scenic diversion" which louise decided to turn down and we did a HUGE detour through the middle of no where, past ranch style farmhouses and back and forth over the same train track about 3 times. We eventually got to the whale nursery where we waited for about 10 minutes hoping we would get lucky but we didn't and we got cold so jumped back in th car. Heading now for Port Fairy where we stopped for lunch We walked down to the wharf in this quaint little fishing town and on the side of the river there was a little lonely seal just chilling in the sun!!!!!! After getting some snaps and being totally amazed at how close we were to another wild animal we started walking off towards the sea when another tourist got very excited and started pointing at something in the water. When I looked there was a HUFE sting ray - about 8ft long just gliding through the water!!! Crazy Stuff!!!!! After some lunch we were heading for Cape Bridgewater - our furthest point along - very straight roads and easy driving! When we got there it wasn't totally worth the long drive but the sea wasa really pretty blue pastel colour. Overall today we drove 300km!!!!! We got back to Port Campbell and stayed at the same campsite. It was pretty busy at the site tonight due to the Aussies getting a bank holiday for the Queens Birthday, and there was a camp fire going, a nice sociable evening talking to some actual australians rather than just backpackers!!!!
