Yesterday morning we left lake taupo and headed down to Napier, on the way we stopped off at huka falls which was massive, it lets out 200 thousand litres a second I have never seen a river with so much water and so fast flowing it was mental.
We checked in to our motel which was on the sea front it was really nice, the sand was a black sand beach which was really nice , we had a walk down the beach and learnt some history about Napier as there was an earthquake at 7.9 back in the 1930s which flatted most of the town.
Today we got up at 5:30am to watch the sunrise which was really nice I sat on the balcony and watched it, Dave went and sat on beach but I got the best pictures so bit of a waste dave going to the beach lol
This afternoon we went on a wine tasting tour which took us to 4 different vineyards I loved it as you all know I love wine lol , it was actually really interesting as they explained how it was made etc we ended up buying 4 different bottles of white wine which was all well nice.
We meet a couple on are tour which are from Wellington where we are heading tomorrow and offered us for a BBQ which was really nice, so that the 2nd offer we had so Defo going to go see them.
When we got bk from are wine tour we booked a cab to go to Ann and Johns house which is the couple we meet in Russell a week ago and they offered us round for a BBQ , their apartment was beautiful which over looked a river which was lovely, we had a few drinks and they make us an amazing dinner leg of lamb cooked on the BBQ , the evening was really nice.
we want to thank them for inviting us in to there home and making us feel so welcome. John the lamb was amazing!!
Tomorrow we have a long drive in the morning as we are heading down to Wellington which is our last stop on the north island then we are going to the South Island can't wait as everyone we speak to says it's amazing.
