Day 42 30th April 2007
Todays drive was ment to be one of the top 10 drives to do in the world and there were some fantastic views. We stopped off at Punakaiki Pancake Rocks. This is New Zealands closest point to Australia. I will add the photos soon I promise. After we stopped at the cliff top tp see the seal colonies. We have a fancy dress party tonight and the theme is 'The Best Thing About The Kiwi Experiance'. I could only really go as one thing and that is a Hobbit. Well, I didnt have to shrink anyway. Vicki went as a glow worm. Getting the outfit was reaaly funny. I got a white shirt and fluffy slippers from the Warehouse, Elf ears from the toy shop and a jacket from the charity shop for $2. I looked so funny. All they guys got so drunk before dinner but we had a really good night. It gave us a chance to get to know everyone on the new bus. One guy Pete was drinking out of the red wine bottle and threw up outside. Nice one Pete!!!! I wont say what else happened hee hee..................
Day 43 1st May 2007
Everyone was so hungover today! There were a couple of people who I think regeted what happened but the conversations on the bus were amusing. Today was going to be a very long and boring day. We have a long drive to Franz Josef but we stopped off at a few placing on the way. We feed some deer and saw a pig and possum. LOL... Fun!!! Again it was pissing it down with rain and we are ment to be doing a Heli Hike tomorrow on the Glacier but we wont if the weather stays like this.
Day 44 2nd May 2007
When we woke up this morning it was still raining. The heli Hike was cancelled which put me in a bad mood! Really wanted to do it but ended up doing the half day glacier hike instead. It turned out to be really good. Such an amazing thing to see. I cant even discribe what it looked like you will just have to wait and see all the photos. When we first saw it in the distance it didnt look that far but we had 45 mins walk and my boots were killing me. It was hard work walking up the ice and we had to have boot spikes. The trip was worth evert minute and the views were so nice. Our guides had to axe out the steps becaue the glacier was melting with the rain. It was so slippery and vicki feel over towards the end. It was so serreal to actually be up there. The ice was so blue and the shafts were so deep. Really amazing to see.
