This morning we left Nelson and drive 2hrs to Picton for a bit of a day trip on our way to Blenheim. The drive to Picton was basically two whole hours of bends and unfortunately I was the one driving! It wasn't too bad and I seriously think I've become a better driver since we got here.
Picton was beautiful! It is the port town to catch the ferry to Wellington. It was so pretty and it was a nice warm day as well. We decided to buy some lunch supplies from the grocery store and have a picnic by the water. A picnic in Picton!
After that we went to a beautician and I got my eyebrows and bikini waxed. After which Mel got a pedicure.
All up we spent about four hours in Picton. We discussed going on a boat ride out through Queen Charlotte Sounds but the best one we could find was $93 and went for four hours. We weren't convinced we wanted to spend that much or go for that long. We were happy with our picnic in Picton anyway.
It was only a short 20min drive to Blenheim where we easily found our motel and had a little rest. Our first impressions of Blenheim was that it was underwhelming. It definitely wasn't as pretty as Picton. Either way, we have three days here so we'll make the most of it.
We bought some stuff for breakfast for tomorrow from Countdown and then went to a restaurant for cocktails and dinner.
We are back in our motel quite early and enjoying some trashy tv, The Valleys. Awesome.
Tomorrow we finally hit the wineries.
