As you can see from my photo today we did the Sound of Music tour. Really interesting, disappointing to find out so much of the movie isn't true. We left Budapest early to head to Salzburg. We do a scenic drive along the Danube. Absolutely beautiful scenery going through little Austrian villages nestled along the river with the Alps in the background. We stop at Melk where there is a monastery. There happens to be a festival in the town so we walk through and have a hotdog for lunch back up to the bar for a beer. Today we started with a city tour with Emmy a beautiful young local tour guide. She really knew what she was talking about and gave us great insight into Hungarian history. The bus drives us around Pest side where we went to Heroes square , we drove past St Stephans Cathedral and parliament house, then we crossed over to Buda where we went up to the castle and another cathedral. Today we spend morning in Vienna and then drive to Budapest. We get dropped in the city and taken to Swaravski crystal shop, the crystals come from Innesbruk, Austria. Buy a few trinkets and then go to Sisi Museum. Everyone else goes shopping and to Australia pub. Do get a chance to buy some Mozart balls. At 1.00 pm we depart for Budapest. This morning we left Prague very early up at 6.00 for brekky then onto Vienna. We get dropped straight in the city centre to have lunch then back on the bus where we drive on the famous ring road where all the famous buildings are. The buildings are fantastic they are museums, public buildings, cathedrals, opera houses etc. We are dropped outside two museums with our local guide for a city walking tour.
