Hey everyone!
Well the day after we went to Yosemite we went to Lombard Street which is named the crookedest street in the world! We walked down in to the bottom where we could take better pictures and we were surprised by how many cars were actually using it! I wouldn't want to drive down it.
The next day we went on The Bay Cruise which was the last attraction in our pass. It was really good and only lasted an hour so Daniel didn't get sick! We had already seen all of the sights though but it was still fun! It was extremely windy though.
The following day we went to Golden Gate Park where we climbed Strawberry Hill and there is a waterfall going down one side which we went to and i climbed into it to get some photos! It was pretty hard climbing the hill in flip flops! Oops!
The next day we went to a huge farmers market which was down by the Ferry Building. The market was both inside the building and all around the surrounding area. It was so busy! I bought some Almonds because our tour guide on the Yosemite trip kept going on and on about then and apparently California exports 85% of the worlds almonds. I also bought a ring for $5 though it's probably worth about 2 pence and is starting to turn my finger green! It does look nice though! We had to ride on a old fashioned street car to get there which was cool! They are extremely jerky though so i was always flying into people!
The following day we went to the cinema to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean film which was really good! It was slightly cheaper than home and i also splurged on some popcorn:) Penelope Cruz was in this film and i think she made a much better pirate than the whiny Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley:)
Then yesterday we took the boat out to Alcatraz which was really really cool! We wanted to do it a couple of days ago but it was all booked up! It is so popular. When we arrived we watched a 20 minute film about the island which took you through all the different eras of it's history which was really interesting. We then climbed up to the top of the island to the prison building and we got a recorded tour which took us around the cell houses and different parts of the building. It told us about different attempted escapes and stories of the guards and former prisoners which was pretty cool. We also got to go inside some cells on Block D where the most dangerous prisoners were kept and we went inside a solitary confinement cell. We spent about 2 hours on the island and then we jumped on a boat back.
Today is our last full day in San Francisco and our flight to L.A is at 5pm tomorrow and then we go onto Sydney from there on a 15 hour flight. Woo hoo! So all we will be doing today is packing and getting organised!
So it is goodbye America and we will speak to you all again in Australia!!
Love Daniel and Kathleen xxx
