Set off just after breakfast to drive up the coast to the rainforest in the very North of Queensland. Took us about 2.5 hours to reach The Daintree and cross the river on a little ferry, before driving through the actual rainforest to reach Cape Tribulation. Stopping in a little b&b called Ferntree and got upgraded to private rooms, they are like little huts right in the middle of the rainforest, I am lying here now looking out at the trees and all you can hear are all the different animals living around the place!
Had a drive up to Cape Tribulation beach, the closest point where the rainforest meets the barrier reef and had a stroll along it, got a beer and just chilled out. It looked like something out of Jurassic Park!
Went out for some dinner and headed back pretty early, gets dark around 6:30 and the roads can be pretty dangerous, lots of wild animals like the cassowary running around the place, which Sam especially did not want to see as they are basically giant turkeys with a claw that can kill you!!
Got an early night ready for more exploring tomorrow, have been told about some swimming holes we can visit and there are loads of tours you can do, we have booked snorkelling on the reef for Saturday but it has been really windy so don't know if we will be able to do it or not until later today!
I have absolutely no signal or internet here (it's great!) so will post this and photos when I'm back into civilisation in a couple of days!!
