And so we are back in Wanaka! It is sooo pretty here compared to Christchurch despite the cold! The hotel is on the Crown Range road about 20 minutes from Wanaka and 40 minutes from Queenstown. We had to be at The Cardrona for 8.30am the next morning and so we decided to get a cabin instead of sleeping in the van just because it would be warmer! When we arrived at the hotel the next morning we were told that they had been expecting us last night! Ooops. (Not to work, but they were expecting us to stay there!). I had expected it to take a few weeks for us to settle in and get to know everyone but they were all so nice and the hotel is gorgeous! Our first day was pretty quiet so I was made to practice my barista (coffee making) skills! We got breakfast and lunch which was great because in Christchurch we were having to pay for all of our meals whilst at work! When we finished at 3pm, we drove back to Wanaka and although we had already paid for the night in the cabin, we collected our things and drove back to the hotel. We weren't gonna refuse free accomadation in a lovely hotel! I think I was more excited about being able to use the bathroom without having to go outside more than anything else!
Today we have just moved in with one of the girls from work, Hayley and her husband Matt. We are renting their spare room as it is far too cold to sleep in Ollie! The Cardrona ski field also officially opened today and so the hotel should be getting busier. Now we just need to learn how to ski….
