Lauterbrunnen! Switzerland is absolutely beautiful, we didn't want to leave! We arrived Friday evening and were immediately blown away by how stunning the scenery is. Our accommodation was at Jungfrau Camping, like a holiday park with areas for tents and caravans and then plenty of cabins too. We had a cabin with two rooms, a double in one and a set of bunks in the other. As well as a little kitchen and dining room table. Our front door opened out onto a little stream and the window at the back looked out into the largest free falling waterfall in Switzerland- Staubachfall. Easily the prettiest place we've stayed so far. We cooked dinner that night- chicken pesto pasta if you were wondering, so good! That evening was the last day of Swiss celebrations so we watched traditional performances at the campsite.
Saturday we had an early start to go paragliding. Such an amazing experience. And not in the least but scary like I thought it would be, it was relaxing! We were lucky to get such good weather and a clear view over Interlaken and the Swiss alps. The blog photo is me being prepared for paragliding! Afterwards we explored the Staubachfall near our campsite, climbed up behind it and drank out of it too. We enjoyed a Swiss hot chocolate from a cafe in town before heading back. Another chilled evening, we had burritos for dinner. It's so easy having a kitchen at hand when you need it!
Sunday we had a relatively early morning to go white water rafting. Another awesome experience! It was a bit cooler that day, and it rained a little but only towards the end of rafting. We were rafting down glacial waters that had melted off the glaciers three hours before they reached the rapids we were in. An average of about 7 degrees. We had lovely outfits- wetsuits, booties, wetsuit jacket, life jacket and helmet, and we still got cold! We warmed up back at the campsite afterwards and set off towards the Trummelbach Falls. They fall inside a mountain, so you get the lift to the middle then climb to the top and back down again to see the falls. So cold in there and so pretty! Sunday was Kristen's last day with us before she heads back home. We cooked another delicious pasta for dinner and just chilled for the night together.
We said a sad goodbye to Kristen on Monday morning- she was leaving for Munich and us for Italy again.
So next stop, Lake Como!
