Karli and Nessy's Adventures
We arrived in Penang on recommendations to stay at "Love Lane Inn" we decided everybody here was a nutter and we fitted right in! Love Lane is aptly named because on the four corners of the block stand Ladyboys from four different countries, we were opposite the Thai Ladyboys brothel and enjoyed many evenings of "Prossie Watching" We bet Dan ( a pair of Nike trainers, they are really kewl and now called the "ladyboys") to ask the prettiest of the Thai Ladyboys for a "favour" was highly hilarious to watch and apparently they aren't so pretty close up!
I'm writing all this now because we have left Penang and are now in Langkawi safe and sound, didn't want anybody worrying about us!
So sightseeing, we were staying in Chinatown, Becky loved the food court where they played Westlife and Backstreet Boys until my ears bled, we wandered around Little India and had yummy food here, we went on a Roti (Indian flat bread which is very yummy and comes with curry sauce - they eat it for breakfast) quest every morning, to find we had woken up too late again to be able to have it!Â
Went to a Reclining Buddhist temple, well we got a bus to the bus stop and then didn't know where to go, so we went to a Buddhist temple and got our fortunes told, they were very much doom and gloom, so after praying and donating money for us to have better luck we headed off for the temples we came to see, they were beautifully ornate but i wasn't quite sure why they were selling candyfloss and ice creams (although we did take full advantage of this)
Went to Kek Lok Si Temple, which is a huge Buddhist temple, with a massive bronze statue which apparently will be surrounded by 1000 other bronze statues in the near future, we sat around a carp pond and fed them Bombay mix (or maybe its Mumbai mix now, want to be politically correct) , I don't know if Bombay mix is bad for fish, but it didn't harm me. ( PS Bombay mix doesn't taste anything like it does at home, it actually tastes nice here)
Penang Hill, here we took a funicular railway to the top, it rained (because Dan wished it to apparently - Becky was not happy) and then we came back down again! was fun-er than iv made it sound!
We also went in the oldest and taxi in Penang, 28 years old, what a privileged life we lead!
We went to the Snake Temple and it was rubbish, note to anyone going to Penang don't go to the Snake Temple there are only 13 snakes left here. (there was meant to be around 50)
Left Penang at 7am this morning on a ferry to Langkawi, Dan went back to KL to catch his flight home and now we are spending the next few days here, frazzling ourselves on the beach (Becky has some ridiculous tan lines - she will absolutely kill me for putting that so shush)
Mwah Karli, Ness, Becky (and Dan - although hes gone home now)
