Karli and Nessy's Adventures
We arrived in Laos by slow boat along the Mekong river, beautiful scenery, picture this, lush green mountains, clear blue sky and nothing to do for 14 hours over two days, on tiny hard benches, we did, I have to say, get a little bored.
We then arrived at Luang Prabang which is one of the nicest cities I have ever been to and definitely the prettiest place we have been to in Laos, very laid back and very beautiful. Also this may seem same to people at home, but we had bread and cake and laughing cow cheese, at the time i thought we had died and gone to heaven.
We visited the temple here which was fantastic and different to the ones which we have been seeing in Thailand, it had same mosaics pieces all over it depicting different stories and we also sat here for rather too long watching monks mix cement, at the time it seemed like the most interesting thing in the world, in hindsight i wonder why we did it!
Phonsavan was where we headed next to go to the Plain of Jars, these are literally massive stone pots, they were really interesting to see, and nobody knows why they are there or how they got there, largest one we saw as 2 meters big and we saw one lid, the theories are that they were either there to store Lao Lao, which is rice whiskey or they were a kind of tomb, so we wandered around 3 sites of Pots, the first one was really interesting, and it was sunny the other two were less so but i think that was mainly because it was raining. The sight has been cleared of Landmines but only between these markers so we kept threatening to push Dan and Iain over the markers, because they are boys and really annoying.
Our evening in Phonsavan was also very interesting because we made friends with one of the locals who took us to the hostel who then took us to a Karaoke bar, they was a break dancing dance off, which was funny, and also the Asian girls thought Ness and I were amazing, we also got treated like royalty because loads of people got chucked out of their seats so we could sit down! Dan and Iain think it was a gay club because they were getting loads of attention....
We then came down to Vientiane, which was silly because we wanted to go to Vang Vieng to go tubing which means we now have to go back up, but we live and learn. We went to another temple here, I'm getting really bad at remembering the names of the temples but it was big and gold and famous in Vientiane, we also saw the Arc de Triomphe which was made out of cement given to Laos by America to build a runway....!
There isn't a lot to right about because we have literally just been 'chilling' for out time in Laos,
