Burford Adventures 2017-18
Arrived safely in beautiful Denmark for our 4 day trip and finally relaxing in our cosy little Airbnb farm cottage over a bottle of South Aussie wine would you believe!?? Good old $6 Banrock station! Its about the max the poor old bank account can muster!
After only 4 hours sleep got up 4am to drive to Gatwick airport naively thinking there wouldn't be traffic. At 6am it was gridlock with no movement in the 4 lanes of motorway. Delayed +++. Running madly through the airport with little hope of making our plane but someone up above looking out for us... it had been delayed 20mins. SO lucky!!! Went to final step of boarding only to have my scanned ticket say 'incorrect airport'!!! OMG! Moment of horror thinking we had driven to Heathrow by accident. Hostess rescanned and it decided it was correct. So relieved. Hair now white! Uneventful budget flight thank goodness.
By the time we got a new sim card, changed money and caught a shuttle bus for our rental car... no time left to do anything other than drive the 3 hours to Ribe via a supermarket. Arrived 730pm. What a day!
The drive was beautiful though and very scenic. Enormous bridge between Denmarks islands incredible. Like Melbourne's Westgate Bridge on steroids. It was sunset and gorgeous. Toll to cross was $45... ouch!
Passed cute little light houses and big ocean fishing vessels.
Arrived to our airbnb farm house at night but greeted by purring kittens ...one that is happily wooing Adam that its not just a dog's world. There are goats, chickens, geese and ducks which we'll see tomorrow.
Kids loving it. They travelled beautifully- excited by the plane ride, the pit stop playgrounds and most of all the cats!
Viking Centre on the agenda for tomorrow!
