Happiness Is The Road
The mozzies got us bad last night but it was worth staying here to see the wonderful kangaroos. There was no electricity this morning. All the power to the camp site was out. When we were leaving the guy who owned the camp site came over to chat. He apologised about the lack of power. He was really friendly and we talked about the mozzies. He said that there weren't many of them about at the moment. We dread to think what it must be like when the mozzies are out in force. He told us the best place to go to see the Ninety Mile Beach near Loch Sport and told us to look out for the monster! Loch Sport is a lovely but sprawling place and is probably quiet because it's at a dead end and you have to travel quite a way to get here. On the way to the beach we saw the monster in the lake, three tyres together with a big branch! It looks like the Loch Ness Monster and whoever put it there has a great sense of humour. The beach here was awesome. Again the sand stretches as far as the eye can see in each direction. We had a walk and paddle here and then hit the road to Lakes Entrance. It is a sea side resort on the entrance to an inland lake system, hence the name. The town centre on the lake front was lovely and we found the Sunnyside Caravan Park. This was a lovely quiet site, one of the quirky ones that we love. We immediately went for a swim as it was hot and the pool looked very inviting. The water was cold but very refreshing. You had to keep swimming to keep warm. Whilst we were at the pool we got chatting to another couple who were really friendly. They weren't from too far away. They were just trying out their new caravan before they embarked on longer journeys. After the swim it was about 5 and we decided to go for a walk into the town. It was a really lovely evening with a clear blue sky. It was a lovely heat that soaked you through without being uncomfortable or humid. We checked out the restaurants here as there were quite a few and we hadn't been out for a proper meal for my birthday yet. There just weren't any suitable restaurants to go to in Tasmania when it was my actual birthday. We spotted an Asian restaurant called the Floating Dragon which was actually moored up and floating on the lake. It had a great menu that we both liked. It was a bit too early to eat now so we booked a table for half seven. Until then we just mooched around and by half seven we were so hungry we could have eaten a horse. Unfortunately we weren't in the UK and near a Tesco! We got a lovely table right by the window and we had a wonderful meal washed down with a fantastic bottle of C******nay. We ate and talked and laughed and watched the beautiful sun set across the lake. Bellies full to bursting we wandered back to the camp site carrying a lovely little doggy bag. We were so stuffed we just couldn't eat it all tonight so we took what was left for lunch tomorrow.
