Happiness Is The Road
Stanley had been a lovely place to stay. On our way out we went on the scenic drive and got some great photos of the Nut. Our first stop today was the Rocky Cape National Park. The scenery here was wonderful with the lovely orangey colour on the rocks. It was very windy and quite chilly today and we had our fleeces on! After this we drove on to a place called Sisters Beach where there was a camp ground that we had hoped to stay the night. It was apparently free camping and featured in the Camps Guide. We couldn't find the site despite looking where the guide said it was. The camp area had either closed or it was in an extremely cryptic place. We stopped here to get some lunch though and had a wander through to the beach. It was here that a very strange sight met our eyes. As we were walking back to the camper from the lovely beach we noticed a rather large woman with a rather large behind stood by the bushes and trees at the back making a funny wriggling movement. She appeared to be in some sort of discomfort. We were flummoxed as to what she could be doing. Just then a couple of people walked on to the beach through a gap in the trees next to her. This seemed to startle and slightly distress her. We walked back to the camper trying our best not to make eye contact with this most strange Tasmanian creature. Whilst we were sat in the camper eating our lunch she walked past us with a considerably younger male companion. She was walking funny with her legs wide apart as if they were chaffing and her companion looked distressed. We can only guess and will never know what exactly had gone on! We gave up on finding the camp site and as we thought we might have stumbled across some sort of hideous dogging beach we left! We drove a little further down the coast to a place called Boat Harbour. This was a beautiful tiny place in a gorgeous bay. There was some free camping here on the foreshore but unfortunately all the sites were already taken. We decided to find a camp site at Wynyard which was on the coast not too far away. It was a lovely site and there was a cute p**** cat sat outside the reception. The woman at reception was very friendly and the site was very well cared for. We got a really great site with a view of the ocean and the rolling waves. The amenities block was one of the nicest and cleanest that I have come across. The gents had framed pictures on the wall, lovely bright coloured ornaments on the window sills, flowers in vases and a bench with cushions on it and magazines to read (in case you had to wait for one of the showers). It was obvious that the owners took great pride in the place and put a lot of love into it. We went to do our dishes after tea in the camp kitchen and met some lovely people in there. There was a couple and their daughter from Tasmania and a guy from WA. The conversation got onto driving and the guy from WA confirmed what we had thought all along, that the Tasmanians drive like *********s. He said that they were up his **** all the time desperate to get past. He said that it wasn't like this in WA where everyone is so courteous. We agreed with him and were very pleased that it wasn't only us who had noticed this. The couple from Tasmania also agreed that this was true about drivers over here. They are touring round in vintage tractors and are only too aware of all the arrogant tossers driving like maniacs.
