Happiness Is The Road
We had a lovely quiet night here without any noisy possum visits. We got up late and had a nice relaxed breakfast. We then went for a walk through the National Park to Archers k*** for an elevated 360 degrees view of the area. It was a lovely walk through forest and beside the lake. Eventually the track took us uphill to the top of the hill called Archers Knob. It was very hot today and fairly tough going especially for Jay who's still getting used to climbing big hills. She did an admirable job and without buffing a lung out got to the top! The view was spectacular of the hills and the lake and the beach. The beach was massive and went on for miles. Apart from two match like figures and some horses it was deserted. Instead of following the path back to the car park the way we had come we decided that it would be nice to walk back along the beach. We followed the track back down and to the beach and walked hand in hand along it. It was a lonely, isolated, quiet but quite majestic beach. It had an atmosphere about it that we couldn't quite fathom. We didn't know exactly where to come off the beach to get back to the car park. I had scanned the beach from above and had estimated how long we should walk before turning off. After about an hour and with no sign of another footpath I was getting worried but only very slightly. I then spotted a sign in the dunes saying track 2. This was at about the right place and we turned off. This was the perfect choice of path as it led us to the car park in only about 10 minutes. We were very happy to see our little camper. We had some lunch and then drove to a place a bit further up the coast to Greens Beach where there was a caravan park. Greens Beach was lovely and the caravan park was a small quirky one full of tatty characterful cabins. It was only $20, very quiet and we settled there for the night. The amenities were very clean and the showers mega powerful, just how they should be. Tasmanian showers so far have been excellent. The showers here though cost $1 for six minutes but the money slot was on the wall opposite the shower cubicles. This meant a quick streak across to the slot! We both got up to go to the loo in the night and despite a bit of light pollution this was the best night sky that we have seen together. The stars were shining with an incredible clarity.
