Happiness Is The Road
We were planning on going to the Blue Mountains today. After breakfast though we set off back to Orange. The coolant and some other warning lights had lit up on the van a couple of days ago. There was a KMart Tyre & Auto in Orange so we wanted to have it checked out there. They had flushed the coolant through in Sydney when it had been serviced and we thought it might be something to do with this. The coolant level was fine though and the camper was starting and sounding as good as ever. It took just over an hour to get to Orange and we went straight to KMart. The guy there had a look at the camper and thought that our problem was with the alternator. One of the warning lights that was on was the battery light. There was nothing wrong with the coolant and this light had only come on as a result of the battery level being low. The battery was only on 11 volts. He couldn't do this repair and so recommended that we go to Western Battery who were not far away. We got the camper there and explained the problem. They asked me to turn the engine and it wouldn't start! Our little camper is so wonderful as she only died on us when she got to the place that was going to repair her. It was indeed the alternator that had broken and we needed a new one. We were helped by a really great guy called Mark Turner who sorted everything out with the warranty company and got a new alternator ordered. It would be there in the morning. In order to keep us going overnight he offered to charge the battery for us so that we could drive away tonight and get it started in the morning. We left the camper there for a few hours and went to have a mooch around Orange city centre. We had a look around K Mart and Big W and bought some new very colourful plastic bowls, some new mugs, a pillow and a bright orange frisbee. We then sat in the park and read our books and ate an orange in Orange. Although Orange is severely lacking in the colour orange it is a really nice place. We went back for our camper at around 4 and she was charged and ready to go. We drove to the Colour City Caravan Park which was just down the road. We didn't want to go to the other caravan park again in case the staring man was still there. The Colour City Caravan Park was really nice and very cheap, only $22. We settled down here for the rest of the day. The Blue Mountains will have to wait until tomorrow.
