Well here we are - in the tiny hamlet (hamletito?) of Crehelp, just down the road from the quiet village of Dunlavin and a mere 14 kms from the local big town (it has an Aldi!) of Blessington. Our new owners picked us up yesterday, Halloween, (heavens... it sounds like they found us at an animal shelter) and it was a mere 90 minutes up the N81 to our new home for the month of November. It being Halloween and all, and the property being a very swish, upmarket cattery, it was only appropriate that the jack-o-lantern was in fact a cat-o-lantern. Too cool! We had a lovely dinner and ended up snuggling down in our new home for a good night's sleep. The cattery itself always closes for the month of November, so we're down to only 11 'resident' cats - 9 of whom are indoor/outdoor babies via catflaps. The two others are scaredy-cats who don't come in (but do come for food everyday, twice a day). Tuesday saw us have a drive into Blessington for a spot of orientation and we eventually dropped our owners off to catch the air-coach to Dublin. Wednesday and Thursday were a bit gray, cold, damp and dreary and we felt like we deserved a couple of days of lazing. So that's just what we did. Unpacked, made friends with the kitty-cats and the 2 chickens (Cynthia and Prue!) The temperatures here are around 3 degrees lower than Enniscorthy - and we've even had our first frost. Thank heavens for central heating and copious hot water! Plans? Off for a scenic drive tomorrow to Glendalough in the Wicklow National Park. Scenery... we're on our way.
