So Melbourne and Australia and the trip start to draw to a close and i'm on my way home. What have i been doing this last few weeks? Good question! WHAT HAVE i been doing? Saving and working and not much else. Melbourne has certainly offered me some of the best, busy, fun times and some of the worst, lonely, boring times of this trip - but that's life eh?
ANZAC Day is the main remembrance day here and i enjoyed the march and taking lots of photos. Couldn't really make my mind up about how i feel about war and the whole heroes/remembrance thing. As i walked among the WWII and Vietnam veterans i kind of swayed between thinking it's all a sad load of hypocrital meaninglessness to feeling very moved and tearful at the sound of bagpipes and the sad old boys and their medals!
I've been doing a lot of walking and spent last weekend walking along the coastline south of Melbourne. It was lovely to get out of the city and be blasted by the sea air at Brighton Beach. Ended up walking 8 kilometres!
So i finished work on Friday and am set to fly back to Sydders on Tues. Spent this weekend pottering, getting a last few bits and i have quite a big to do list before i leave. But it's not all over till the Fat Lady Sings! and this melodious obese bird is waiting for me in New York City!
Anyone with any NYC tips, please fell free to send them in. x
