Day 41 Saturday 21/09 Thessaloniki > Metsovo 24 deg Sunny -

John here...We left Thessaloniki for Metsovo via Dion. It was a straight shot down to Dion so I was then "conned" to drive up Mount Olympus. Road started good and progressively got worse to almost a goat track, so after driving 7km in an hour we were back to visit the town and it's archaeological site. The site had numerous temples to the Gods and was also supposedly the battle training field for Alexander the Great, sounds impressive...but apart from spending money on printing entrance tickets I doubt any money has been spent on maintaining this site since the GFC, so looking at a pile of rocks was a bit disappointing. It was then uphill, down dale and through back blocks and 27 tunnels through mountains to reach Metsovo, thank goodness for GPS.
