Saturday 21st - Monday 7th July 2008

Yo! Ok so on Saturday 21st I set off away from Sydney to start a few months living life up in the sunshine state. My flight was scheduled for 1pm so I set off away from Neils by 10am and jumped on the train in to the city, then forward on to the airport. I arrived by around 11.30ish and checked straight in without a fuss as I checked in online the following day so simply dump my bags and Im through.

At check-in they asked me if I wanted to sit at an exit seat which I took up the offer of, however they failed to inform me that they had changed my seat so when I jumped onboard I went to the seat I booked myself in to online, only to find another lady sitting there so its like oh hello and the flight attendant looked after me, she was pretty hot and sorted me out and stuck me at the exit.

The flight was nice and smooth I fell asleep for most of it as I was shattered from the night out in Sydney. When picking up my bag it was first out on the carrosel so that was handy and I headed straight for the train station. Everything is so easy out here! So I jump on the train and head in to the city which took around 20mins.

In Brisbane I was checked in to the same hostel as Becky and Kate - 2 girls I used to go to school with. That afternoon we met up and arranged to head out that evening. I also got in touch with my Canadian mates who I met down in Sydney - who now live in Brisbane - getting them to come out this evening.

I also met a guy in my hostel room. A lad from down south who had just arrived in Australia that day and didnt know anyone or what was going on so he tagged along with us for the night out. The night was wild, a messy one but a good one at that!

The following day was a lazy day, slept until 3pm and had a quiet evening watching tv.

Monday I met Rose - a girl from Oz Intro who was moving to Brisbane for 3 months aswel. We hung out and had a wander around the city. We also went to look at a house for rent to get an idea of what you can get for your money out here.

On Tuesday I had 4 interviews. The first job I walked out of the interview cuz it sounded crap, the second interview I was offered the job, the third interview said they would get back to me the following day but never did, instead I got a phone call yesterday! Then the final interview was for a call centre where you get paid by the hour instead of getting paid only for commision. So I decided to take that job as it was offered to me. I would be starting on Thursday, so me and Becky decided to get a 4 litre box of goon and got happily drunk... again

Again on Wednesday I slept in. In the afternoon I strolled around the city with Kate. I also went to view another apartment on the riverside with Rose. The apartment was stunning, it was $150 a week which included use of the gym, pool, and all electricity and that sort of stuff plus the views were amazing! However we had to share with a 50 odd year old woman and I cant really see myself being happy doing that so I had to say no, however Rose fell deeply in love with it!

Instead I had a word with Tim, the guy I met in the hostel on Saturday as he had moved in to a shared house and told me there was a spare room so I got him to show me the ropes and fell in love with it. It has its own private pool, my own room and space, kitchen, huge bathroom and yeah I could see myself settling in here!

Its now Thursday and I started my first day at work. It was working for a Market Research company, ringing out and asking people to take part in 5-10min surveys. Its unbelievable how nice people are on the phone out here as back home we obviously tell them where to go, just these guys do it politely which was arite haha. But the members of staff were d*** and not really very welcoming!

On Friday I met the landlord for the house who said I could move in immediately, an offer that I didnt refused!

Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday I was working all the time, so moved all my stuff in to the house Sunday evening.

Last week was pretty chilled out. Charlotte and Marcus arrived - again 2 people who were on the Oz Intro thing at the same time as me. Charlotte and Rose moved in to the river side apartment so I need to get some good pictures looking over the city!

Monday and Tuesday I was working during the evening, Wednesday was Tims birthday so we had some drinks at the house all afternoon and got a few people around, we were going to go out during the evening however we were both knackered, we had started drinking too early I think I were zonked out. Thursday I had the day off and we all went to the cinema to watch Hancock which was a pretty naff movie but it passed a few hours of my time! Friday I quit my job as on Tuesday the managers seemed to be just acting like idiots with me by not acknowledging me when I said hello or goodbye in the evening. Plus the job was boring as hell so it was time to say bye bye to them. On Saturday I sorted out a potential new job in a backpackers bar, I also watched Britains Got Talent online as the weather was crap later in the day. Then yesterday I chilled out and watched a movie.

This week started quiet. Today I have been in to the city to arrange my trial for the backpackers bar which will start tomorrow. Originally I was concerned about not being able to do the job due to having transportation back to the house, however I would be working until 4am and the trains start running again at 4am so there isnt an issue which is sweet so hopefully all will go well tomorrow night!!

Oh and another thing - I have booked to go SKIING! In Australia! Oh yeah I cant wait. Tim and I head down to the snowy mountain slopes at the beginning of August in peak season for some fun on the slopes. How good will that be! YEHAAA
