Tuesday 13th May - Saturday 17th May 2008
Ok these are abit late being added, busy busy busy few weeks gone by! This but covers the last few days in Melbourne and the trip across to Adelaide down the Great Ocean Road.
Tuesday 13th May still down in St Kilda, Melbourne. Today we went on the official Neighbours tours yehaa ha was quite good actually we met Declan (who...same thing I thought when I saw him but hes cool) Got him to sign a postcard which is now happily sat with my sister. Aoso got to wander around Ramsy Street, did you know that Susan Kenedy has never actually set foot through that front door in all the time shes worked there. Amazing...!
That afternoon I locked the car key inside the camper which wasnt the best thing Ive ever done so I had to find a local who then taught me the tricks of breaking into cars. He was living in a flat opposite where we were leaving the van, and seemed abit dodgie so it was quite handy to have him show up at the right time! That evening we met up with the peeps we met in Base hostel in St Kilda - where we were taking advantage of the free showers wooop!
On Wednesday we were planning on moving on from St Kilda however one of Adams mate that he worked with in New Zealand was there so we agreed to go to his that evening and crash out there as he was having a lil house gathering. Today I just chilled out on the beach and wrote a few postcards and watched the sunset so that was cool! Adam had a stroll around the city. When I headed back to the van the Cheq guy that lived in the flats(the one that showed us how to break in) was there and he came out and invited us in for a shower so we didnt refuse the offer. At the time we were cooking some burgers on the pavement - exotic hey! he also poured me a straight glass of vodka its like wow you like this stiff man so I cheekily asked for some orange to dilute it down before i knock myself out.
On Weds night we headed down the coast for about 70kms to Adams mates place. At the house do there was around 10 of us, 4 guys, each individually signed with Sony and Virgin who are just starting out in the music industry. Whilst we were there one of the dudes music videos came on MTV so that was quite surreal. There was also Holly Valances sister there too and shes pretty hot! The night went along with booze and stuff...
Thursday morning and we were planning on leaving for the Great Ocean Road however neither of us could be arsed getting up to drive so we crashed in the house all day whilst the owners went to work. Not a bad little job house sitting! That evening we had a lil game of poker for $5 each and I won yehaaa so that was nice.
On Friday we got set for the drive down to Adelaide. Thats around 900kms, we expected to do it within a day but were way out on that estimation! The weather was just clouding up when we left, ready for it to chuck it down which was abit crap! The journey down was event free, one of the main things I wanted to see were the 12 Apposelles (i cant think how to spell that?) but by the time we were nearing those the heavens opened and the State of Victoria saw there first rainfall in months and months and it thoroughly bucketted down so we stopped as it was also turning dark and wasnt particullarly safe to be weaving around the cliffs like this. So we crashed out in a car park, only to be rudely awoken the next morning by someone warning us if we didnt move the van in 10mins they would give us a $300 dollar fine - good morning to you too I thought the silly arse.
The following morning it was still raining and we had driven past the 12 apposelles during the rain which we didnt realise, and trying to find the route to the viewing point wasnt easy so we only ended up seeing the back end of them which was disapointing, but I recon I will do that route again in the summer so I can get some decent pictures. We stopped along the way to Adelaide to get a few pics of things but the weather really dampened the look of things. For the rest of the day we just drove, on through Adelaide, the city looked abit crap so we didnt bother staying and headed up on our way towards the outback, reaching a place called Port Wakefield.
