John excused himself from this morning as he had an upset tummy so I went out on the trail of the cheetah without him.
We found them relatively quickly - and watched them stop, start, walk, flop and as before get closer to the wildebeest. Indeed we were just going to have breakfast under a tree when they set off purposefully towards the wildebeest. We packed up and followed them only to have to press the pause button again ... ! This time we decided to eat breakfast in the jeep - Paul made the coffee and we handed out the food - it was quite easy really and at least we were ready for the off if the cheetahs moved!
Eventually we did see another aborted hunt and were hopefull of another as they stayed in striking distance of the herd. Sadly nothing, so we headed back to the lodge - we were a tad later than usual as it was 1pm when we arrived - just in time for lunch.
We did more editing lessons before the afternoon drive. Interestingly we didn't find the cheetahs until almost the end of the session - they had moved from where we left them. We did, however, get great views of a rare serval and a bat eared fox family in the interim. As it was pushing 7pm when we found the cheetahs we had to watch them approach the wildebeest without knowing if they hunted and hunted successfully.
