The day started with watching a family of bat eared foxes hunting for breakfast in the few filled morning grass. We then found our normal group of lions two adults and 5 cubs - this time we got great views of the male until he flopped in some thick grass away from all the attention.
Breakfast we by the river watching village weavers. The male builds 1-4 nests and the female chooses which one she wants before setting about making the final touches.
We heard there were cheetahs in the area but a search proved fruitless so we returned to camp for lunch and another Lightroom editing tutorial.
Bless him - Benedict had gone out during the break and found the cheetahs so when we went out we knew, within reason, where we were going. We stayed with them while they lolled, snoozed, ambled and scent marked. Every time they ambled and flopped they did at least get closer to the wildebeest herd. Eventually we were rewarded and saw them chase what seemed to be an adult wildebeest - they were unsuccessful and seemingly put off by hearing hyenas close by - I expect their rationale was 'why waste too much energy if your kill is likely to be stolen by someone else'.
We will return tomorrow to see if they can pull it off in the morning light.
