Our last morning and last chance to have the best and lightest scrambled egg I have tasted - John has the instructions to repeat the experience at home but I am not sure they will be repeated!
We said our goodbyes, promising to return, and at 0830 headed with Moli to the airstrip - a journey of @ 3 hours. We added another three species of birds to our list as we ventured east making our grand total a very creditable 137, this was alongside 27 mammals and 4 reptile species - brilliant.
As we got closer to the airstrip we passed another safari jeep - the first in 9 days - I felt they were intruding on our space but realised we were really being rehabilitated back into civilisation!
The Coastal plane landed on time and their next 6 guests - Morten their Danish investor and 5 friends- got off as we got on.
En route to Dar Es Salem I realised I had left my phone in the car charging - heck! ( it eventually returned home 2 weeks later, after its extra holiday, thanks to Morten posting it from Denmark.
As our flight didn't leave until 0330am I had booked us into the transit motel - which allowed us a chance to rest shower and eat in relative comfort.
As we left the restaurant we fleetingly met Kichaka's new guide- Jacques a South African - who, from our brief meeting, as he was checking into the wrong transit motel at the time, seemed as if he would fit in very well. We did look out for him as Moli said he might overnight at a motel before heading out to the camp the next day - so it wasn't quite a totally random meeting - although it was fortuitous that we were leaving dinner as he arrived!
We finally headed to the airport just after midnight and started our return trip to London via Istanbul, while looking forward to our next trip to Africa.
( today's photo is the beautiful view from our hilltop tent looking out over the Great Ruaha River)
